Pure Organic 8 Herb Essiac Tea Blend- Inspired by the original teachings of Rene Caisse and Dr Charles Brusch

Welcome to Essi Organic!

Our Story

Essi-Organic was founded through the healing journey of our director, Rachel, whose background is rooted in natural wellness as an animal communicator, Reiki practitioner, and long-time advocate for the body’s ability to heal itself.

When faced with cancer in 2024, she turned to a path of detox, inner work, and plant medicine. Essiac tea appeared again and again in her research, and she began drinking it as part of her daily practice. Over time, she experienced its cleansing and strengthening effects — but also realised that much of the Essiac available in the UK was overpriced, missing organic certification, and often incomplete. Many blends excluded the sheep sorrel root or omitted the four additional herbs that Rene Caisse later introduced with Dr. Charles Brusch in the true 8-herb formula.

Determined to access the authentic version, she sourced directly from trusted overseas suppliers providing organic, carefully sourced herbs in powdered form — the same style Rene Caisse used for maximum potency.

The difference was immediate: stronger, purer and more effective in supporting her healing.

From this experience, ESSI-ORGANIC was born, with a mission to make authentic Essiac, easily and cheaply available in the UK for those who need it most:

True 8-herb recipe

(including sheep sorrel root)

Organic, high-quality herbs

Imported from our trusted supplier

Accessible pricing

Honouring Rene Caisse’s vision that Essiac should be available to all who need it.

Today, what once supported Rachel's personal healing journey, is shared through ESSI-ORGANIC — bringing the tradition of Essiac to all who seek gentle, natural support for their health.

Getting The Most From Your Tea

This tea is designed to work gently over time, supporting your body’s natural detoxification and healing processes. For the best results, it’s recommended to take it consistently for at least six months, allowing it to work deeply and effectively.

At Essi Organic, we believe in the power of nature. Our 100% organic 8 herb Essiac tea is crafted with care to support your wellness journey. Getting the right dosage for your health goals, and being sure to take the tea as intended-will help you to see the best results.

How Much Essiac Should I Take?

“We provide generous estimates to allow for natural variations like spillage, evaporation, and over-pouring—because real life isn’t measured to the millilitre.”

If you're looking to support or improve your health, it's recommended to take 3oz (88.7mls which we round up to 90mls for ease of UK measurements) of Essiac tea, three times a day.

This is the most commonly suggested starting point – and is recommended for EVERYONE for the first 6 months unless dealing with active cancer stage 4 or considered terminal-Please see higher dose bellow.

Think of it as giving your body a solid head start- it’s a great reset and gives your system the best chance to make the most of the tea.

After 6 months, you may feel ready to:

– Drop down to 90ml twice a day for our maintenance dose

– Or take a break altogether and see how your body responds

There’s no need to cycle or stop unless it feels right for you. Many people tune in and decide based on how they're feeling — and that's exactly how it should be, but it's absolutely safe to stay on the tea long term and advised when working with cancer diagnoses.

-Trust your body. Let it lead.

I'm Dealing With Extreme Health Issues- can I take a higher dose?

For most health issues including stage 1-3 cancers, it's recommended to take the 90mls 3 x per day as stated above. However when dealing with Stage 4 cancer or are otherwise considered terminal, a larger dose of 180ml brewed Essi-Organic is advised to be taken 3 times a day. When using Essiac to support healing from cancer and other chronic illness it's especially important to strictly adhere to the 'no food/timing' guidelines below.

When Should I Take My Tea?

To get the best results from your Essiac tea, it’s important to take it on an empty stomach—just as Rene Caisse herself recommended.

This means:

No food for 2 hours before

your tea

And no food for 1 hour after

your tea

So for example:

If you wake at 7am you could take it right away and then wait until 8am to have breakfast, if lunch is at 12, wait until 2 for your next dose then take your final does right before bed- 2 hours after your last meal!

💡 Why?

Taking the tea on an empty stomach allows your body to absorb the herbs fully—without interference from digestion—giving the tea the space to work its magic. Think of it as being a super healthy flush out of your insides- the clearer they are, the more can be flushed out!

⚠️Attention!

To get the most out of your journey with Essiac it's important to follow these guidelines as closely as possible and not miss a dose. Especially when working with health conditions. However you know your body best. Here at Essi-Organic we are great believers in that. So Learn to tune in and trust your own inner guidance.

If you can't avoid eating closer to your tea some days, it's still better to take the tea than to miss a dose- but for the best results try to stick to the empty stomach rule. If you're ever unsure, just remember:

Tea first, food later.

Can pets take Essi-Organic and if so how much should I give?

Essiac tea isn’t just for humans—it’s also safe and beneficial for your animal companions too! Whether you’ve got a dog, cat, or other furry friend, this gentle herbal blend can support their wellbeing when given in the right amounts.

As with all things, the key is to start small and work up slowly, always being mindful of how your pet responds.

💧 For reference: 1 oz = just under 30ml

🐶 For pets up to 15 lbs (7kg):

Start with 7ml (¼ oz) twice daily.

If all goes well, you can slowly increase to 15ml (½ oz) twice daily.

🐕 For pets 15–35 lbs (7–16kg):

Start with 15ml (½ oz) twice daily.

If tolerated, increase to 30ml (1 oz) twice daily.

🐕‍🦺 For pets 35–55 lbs (16–25kg):

Begin with 30ml (1 oz) twice daily.

You can gradually build up to 60ml (2 oz) twice daily.

🐾 For pets 55–85 lbs (25–39kg):

Start with 60ml (2 oz) twice daily.

Increase to 90ml (3 oz) twice daily if needed.

🐾 For pets 85 lbs+ (39kg+):

Start with 90ml (3 oz) twice daily.

If well tolerated, increase to three times per day.

🧡 As always, trust your intuition and watch how your pet responds. Every animal is unique, and the slow and steady approach is always best.

Does Essi-Organic Have Any Side Effects?

As the body begins to detox, some people may experience:

Mild digestive shifts

Temporary increase in urination or bowel movements (usually lasts a couple of days)

Slight nausea or fatigue

This is usually a sign the body is clearing out what it no longer needs. It's good to plan for this and start taking at a time you're a little quieter, so you can allow your body extra time to rest. If it feels like too much too fast, simply reduce your dosage for a few days and build back up.

As always, tune into your own intuition. Every body is different—and Essiac is here to support your natural healing rhythm, not rush it.

What About Contraindications?

The beautiful thing about Essi-Organic is its incredible safety profile. It’s been used for decades alongside both conventional and holistic treatments—with very few issues.

Here’s what you need to know:

Safe with medications:

Essiac can be taken with any supplements or prescription medications

—even swallowed at the same time. No need to space them out unless directed otherwise- however as with all natural remedies it's best to consult your healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Counts as an empty stomach:

Just like water,

Essiac doesn’t “break” a fast. If you’re told to take your meds or supplements on an empty stomach, you can still take them with your tea.

Can be used during chemo or radiation:

Essiac does not interfere with the effectiveness of conventional treatments like chemotherapy or radiation. In fact, quite the opposite, it's detoxing and anti-inflammatory properties are amazingly beneficial for those undergoing these treatments. It is suggested to

increase the dose to 180mls three times a day during those times.

Fine with vitamins & herbal supplements:

Taking vitamins, minerals or other herbal remedies? No problem. You can continue these alongside your tea—just be mindful of your own body and how it feels. Also be aware that within Essiac there is a vast array of vitamins, minerals and beneficial potent herbal properties- So It may be an idea to revisit your list of supplements from time to time to check you aren't doubling up on any and that all are working well for your body.

Where Do These Guidelines Come From?

The dosage and recommendations we share come directly from our supplier who is one of the largest distributors of Essiac in the world - They base their information on the original research carried out by Rene Caisse alongside Dr. Charles Brusch at the Brusch Medical Research Center between 1959 and 1967.

Their findings laid the foundation for how Essi-Organic is used today, especially when it comes to the 3x daily dosage for those looking to support or improve their health.

If you'd like to explore the research in more depth, you can find more detailed information in the book The Essiac Report by Richard Thomas – a great resource for those curious to dig a little deeper into the history and science behind this powerful tea. or to read more from our supplier you can check them out HERE.

Why is the 8 herb blend so potent?

Burdock Root (Arctium lappa)

Wellness role: A strong source of antioxidants, known for soothing inflammation and helping balance gut bacteria thanks to its inulin content (Predes et al., 2011). Also used for immune and digestive support.

ECS connection: Shown to influence fatty acid pathways linked with endocannabinoid production, and has been investigated for activity with CB2 receptors (Izumi et al., 2014)

Sheep Sorrel (Rumex acetosella)

Wellness role: Traditionally used for cleansing and detox, with antimicrobial and immune-supporting flavonoids (Middleton et al., 2000).

ECS connection: Certain flavonoids are thought to interact with cannabinoid receptors and reduce FAAH activity, supporting higher endocannabinoid levels (Thors et al., 2020).

Slippery Elm Bark (Ulmus rubra)

Wellness role: Valued for soothing the digestive tract and supporting gut health; also used historically to ease throat and respiratory irritation (Wang et al., 2018).

ECS connection: Research suggests possible links to immune function through CB2 receptor activity (Márquez et al., 2019).

Rhubarb Root (Rheum officinale / Rheum palmatum)

Wellness role: Known for assisting liver cleansing and gentle bowel stimulation. Contains anthraquinones with antimicrobial actions (Zhou et al., 2019).

ECS connection: Some rhubarb compounds may influence enzymes within the ECS, adjusting receptor sensitivity (Chen et al., 2021).

Blessed Thistle (Cnicus benedictus)

Wellness role: Traditionally used to support digestion and liver health. Contains cnicin, a compound linked with anti-inflammatory and nerve-supportive effects (Chevallier, 2016).

ECS connection: May affect endocannabinoid pathways through its influence on liver enzymes (Barbieri et al., 2017).

Kelp (various species)

Wellness role: A natural source of iodine, calcium, and magnesium, supporting thyroid and overall nutrient intake. Also rich in antioxidants (Cornish et al., 2017).

ECS connection: Contains fucoidans, studied for immune-modulating effects and potential CB2 receptor interactions (Fitton, 2019).

Red Clover (Trifolium pratense)

Wellness role: Isoflavone-rich herb often used for menopausal support, bone and heart health (Atkinson et al., 2004).

ECS connection: Isoflavones may affect estrogen pathways, which are closely tied with ECS activity (Hajirahimkhan et al., 2013).

Watercress (Nasturtium officinale)

Wellness role: Packed with vitamins A, C, and K, watercress is a nutrient-dense food that supports antioxidant and detox functions (Gill et al., 2016).

ECS connection: Provides phenethyl isothiocyanate, a compound linked with anti-inflammatory activity that may indirectly support ECS balance (Jeffery & Araya, 2009).

Brewing Your Tea

Each 240g bag makes two batches of tea. When brewed using 120g herbs and 4.7L water per batch, this provides approx. 16-17 days of servings at 90ml, three times per day – perfectly aligned with the original Essiac guidance for health support. This gives you at least a full 1-month supply per bag, with real-life room for fridge storage, spills and evaporation. This will use half your 240g bag. Your brewed tea will keep well in the fridge for 2-3 weeks, but if you prefer to make smaller batches, just halve the ingredients to prepare just over a weeks  worth at a time. (Please note that unlike other companies, we provide generous estimates to allow for natural variations like spillage, evaporation, and over-pouring—because real life isn’t measured to the millilitre. )

1 - Collect Everything You Need

*120g of dried Essi-Organic herbs (4 oz) This is half of your pack but it's best to measure with scales to be precise.

*4.7 litres of cold water (that's 4.5 lt plus 200mls to allow for evaporation)

*A large stainless steel pot (at least 6L capacity)

*A wooden spoon

*A glass jug or bottle for storgae (no plastic)

*Optional: amber bottles or thermos for daily use

2 -  Boil The Water

Pour 4.7 of cold water into your pot and bring to a rolling boil.

3 - Stir in your Herbs

Stir in 120g of Essiac herbs once the water is boiling. Please be careful at this point as it can bubble over.

4 - Simmer for 10 Minutes

Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5 - Steep for 12-24 hours

Turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let the tea steep at room temperature for at least 12 hours (overnight is ideal) and not more than 24.

6  - Keep It Cool

Pour the steeped tea (including the herbs) into a glass container and store it in the fridge.

Do not strain – always shake or stir before serving so the herbs are evenly distributed.

7  - Start Your New Routine

Drink 85-90ml (3 oz) of cold tea three times per day, on an empty stomach:– 2 hours after eating and wait 1 hour before eating food again (black tea, coffee or herbal teas are fine and it's fine to take at the same time as medication).

A good routine is:

*when you wake,

*2 hours after lunch, then

*right before bed (at least 2 hours after eating).

8 -  Enjoy

Let’s be real, it’s not winning any taste awards! But hey, the benefits of supporting your body from within totally make it worthwhile. So, down the hatch! Whether you choose to sweeten it with some stevia or add a squeeze of lemon for a little zing, just remember – it’s all good for you! Cheers to your health!

9 - Keep It Up
